En 1989, ¿eras tú un físico comunista?
Me gradué de Licenciado en Física en 1982, en la Universidad de Oriente, Santiago
de Cuba, Cuba. Siempre fui un buen estudiante y siempre oí decir en la escuela y en mi casa que debía aspirar
a ser el hombre nuevo, ese modelo al cual decían aspiraba el comunismo. Siendo muy joven, ingresé
voluntariamente en el partido comunista de Cuba porque creí el cuento que me hicieron desde niño. Un buen día
se rompió la cortina de humo con que me mantuvieron engañado y el hombre nuevo comunista se transformó
en un hombre libre… ¡al que acabaron metiendo en la cárcel por rebelde!

In 1989, were you a communist physicist?
I got my MS in Physics in 1982 at Oriente University, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. I always was a good student. I always
listen in the school and in my house that I should try to be the “new man,” this ideal model that communist asked
us to be. It was my wish to enter to the Cuban communist party because I believed I was told the truth since I was a child.
Fortunately, a good day I had the opportunity to see the world reality. Then, the communist new man transformed himself in
a free man…who was imprisoned for being rebellious!
